- This Business Development Partner role (based in Melbourne) is responsible for building and maintaining a target of independent and competitor-banner pharmacies. The person in this position will proactively source leads through industry channels (brokers, wholesalers, industry associations, pharmacy advisors) as well as through cold calling.
- The role needs to gather and synthesise market intelligence on competitor banners, owner sentiment, lease cycles, and acquisition drivers to prioritise opportunities.
- You will maintain accurate CRM pipeline hygiene: capture lead source, contact history, decision-makers, risk flags, and next steps to enable repeatable conversion and execute structured outreach (calls, email, events, site visits) to open doors with pharmacy owners and establish credibility and trust.
- You will conduct discovery conversations to understand owner motivations, commercial goals, local market conditions, and readiness to consider a banner switch/licensee model.
- You will maintain consistent engagement cadence with prospects to keep this company “top of mind” and progress opportunities through defined pipeline stages.
- You will represent the organisation professionally in market-facing interactions and during frequent store travel/visits as required by the role and clearly communicate organisation’s network value proposition (brand, support office services, retail operations support, marketing, financial and operational benefits) tailored to each prospect’s needs.
- You will present a high-level overview of the licensee agreement pathway (commercial rationale, support model, expectations, and transition approach) in a way that builds confidence and momentum and consistently reinforce the agreed strategy and narrative to potential and incoming partners (ensuring message clarity and alignment).
- You will progress qualified prospects through a defined conversion funnel: qualification → proposal alignment → licensee intent → agreement progression → transition planning.
- You will facilitate the handover to internal teams for implementation once commitment is secured (rebrand planning, operational readiness, onboarding milestones), while staying engaged to protect the relationship.
- You will maintain high-quality pipeline reporting: weekly updates on lead sources, stage progression, forecasted conversions, risks, and support required and capture and share market feedback (competitor activity, owner sentiment, emerging opportunities) to inform continuous strategy review and planning.
- Pharmacy industry sales background essential in Australia, with the proven ability to build relationships and be collaborative.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- A proactive, professional, and customer-focused approach with the ability to influence stakeholders and business focused outcomes.
- Superior negotiation skills that ensure a win win for all parties.
- Self-starter who is results driven with strong financial and commercial acumen.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Australian Driver’s License registered in the state of Victoria.
